The client Le Pompom is a creator of luxury adult toys, for those who enjoy the finer things in life - but who also enjoy having a bit of naughty fun. ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ The project brief Le Pompom asked us to design a brand identity for them. The name they had chosen was obviously fun and friendly, and they wanted an identity that reflected this. However, they were also wary of the preconceptions that most people have of sex toys, and they were keen to avoid any clichéd or obvious branding elements pioneered by other more mainstream brands in the same sector. Their line of high-end luxury toys, including some manufactured from precious metals, meant that Le Pompom were also keen to ensure that their brand could comfortably sit alongside those of more expensive jewellery items - whether in a retail environment, or in a lady's handbag, dressing table, or jewellery box. ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ The solution It was decided very early on in the design process that there would be no 'symbol' or 'icon' used as part of the logo - it would rely solely upon the typeface. We considered just over 1400 different fonts before we finally found the one that looked just right for the Le Pompom logotype - with more than a nod towards French style in its art-deco lines. We wanted to find a way to capture the essence of the Le Pompom 'spirit' - the idea that people should not be ashamed of owning sex toys, and that it should be more about their enjoyment than what other people think of them for using such items. The tagline that we devised encapsulates in its simplicity that very ideal: "It's about pleasure..." We implemented these elements into a new Le Pompom website, launched to coincide with the introduction of their first product, the "Bean", a sleek and highly compact luxury vibrator. ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ ▪ We did it for Le Pompom... and we can do it for you too.
