The Branding Guidelines are the bible of your brand.
 
They define the way that your brand should be shown - on paper, on screen, on dark backgrounds and on light ones, with or without your tagline etc - to ensure that it is always displayed as consistently as possible.
 
Consistency is absolutely crucial in building up a strong brand that people will recognise and come to trust.
